Meet Iñaki Belauste
Iñaki Belaustegigoitia (Belauste) was born and raised in the Basque Country. He knows where the shepherds still make cheese by hand, which mountain trail ends at a centuries-old hermitage, where to discover the best gastronomy experience, and which ciderhouse pours the best cider with the most amazing views.
As lead guide and partner at Ulle Gorri Travel, he has spent years showing international travelers the Basque Country that doesn’t appear in any guidebook — the one locals actually live in.
His tours are private, fully adapted to your pace and interests, and always sustainable — he travels by electric van to protect the landscapes he loves most.

What travelers say about Iñaki
EXCELLENT Based on 41 reviews Posted on Tripadvisor Libby LVerified Basque Country We had a wonderful time on a well-planned day tour. The weather was awful but the day worked out and the tour was very interesting with great views. It is obvious that these two know what they are doing and will make it a tour memorable despite difficult weather.Posted on Tripadvisor Teresa FVerified Inmejorable! Volveremos!Posted on Tripadvisor DufferinGirlVerified Wonder trip in the Basque Country with Ana and Iñaki My husband and I spent a wonderful week with Ana and Iñaki at Ulle Gorri, their lovely farmhouse, touring the Basque country and all it had to offer. Where to start? This trip exceeded our expectations in all respects. Ana worked with us to craft a perfect itinerary, building it around our interests, showing us corners of the Basque country that we could never have hope to have seen on our own. Beautiful hikes, medieval villages, wine tours and a fantastic farm to table lunch with local chefs in Añana. We visited local farms and a mountain top cider house, learned about the fishing industry from the passionate women keeping the tradition of net-mending alive, walked the famous Playa de la Concha in San Sebastián, pintxos hopped from bar to bar, and heard all about the transformation of Bilboa over the last several decades from Iñaki—one of the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic guides we have ever had the pleasure to travel with. His love of the Basque country shines through in every conversation. And, as many reviewers note, he has a fine singing voice and fantastic playlist that kept us humming along as we travelled together. Can’t tell how surprised I was to hear many Canadian classics, including Stan Rogers’ Barrett’s Privateers, on the way to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe. This was a special trip, hosted by a very special couple, at their beautiful farmhouse looking out over fields of sheep and horses to the limestone cliffs in the distance. Ana and Iñaki have taken such care of their property (and have achieved an eco-tourism designation as a result). And they took such good care of us. It was especially fun to walk the trails and to visit their village, including the community Txoko the day we arrived for our first of many glasses of local txakoli wine, and take in the glorious sunsets. We will always remember this once-in-a-lifetime trip and the many wonderful people we met.Posted on Tripadvisor JanetKatVerified We would highly recommend touring with Inaki and Ana. We had a lovely time staying with Ana and Inaki. Ana is very kind and focused on making your stay as comfortable as possible. Inaki knows his history and he is a great communicator, which makes him the perfect tour guide. He took us on a tour day where we saw an amazing viewpoint. Then we went to the Basque Pottery Museum where Blanca and her assistant were so amazing and knowledgeable about maintaining the Basque pottery tradition. Then we went to the Cider House with the stunning views, for a delicious lunch, and the lovely owner who gave us a tour and talked about the history of Cider Houses in Basque culture. And then we met a shepherdess and cheesemaker who was lovely and knowledgeable. We had a great day and wrapped it up with a glass of wine with Inaki and Ana in their beautiful living room. We would highly recommend touring with them.Posted on Tripadvisor michael mVerified A truly magical Basque Country experience We just completed the 10 day “Unforgettable Basque Country: Gastronomy & Traditions” tour with Ana and Inaki. If you want to “live Spain” rather than just tour it, then Ana and Inaki are the perfect couple to host you. We loved staying in their 150-year-old guest farm house. While there we were treated to wonderful breakfasts and dinners prepared by Ana and lots of great hospitality. Highlights included a private tour and tasting at a beautiful winery, a fabulous 10 course lunch prepared by a Michelin rated chef, walks through Basque villages, drives in the gorgeous Pyrenees mountains and much more. While touring with Ana and Inaki, we felt like we were “with family”! Ana and Inaki both grew up in Basque country and they exude the warmth and kindness for which this special place is known.Posted on Tripadvisor Flyer308661Verified A truly unique experience The best thing about our Basque Country trip was our guides, Ana and Inaki. They created a unique adventure that can’t be replicated by any large Tour company. Sometimes they had to make changes on the fly that just added to our experience. For example we were hungry when we arrived and we made a stop at a local small brewery and tasted our first blood sausage. Such unique experiences were awesome such as a visit to a group of women who took care of the fish and their fishing company at the port in Bodega, a semi private 9 course meal with wine prepared in front of us, a private tour of an amazing winery and of course wine tasting. There were many more. We also loved the history of the area provided by Inaki, our personal encyclopedia, and the food. We enjoyed learning about and tasting the local pintxos where ever we went. It was a tour we will never forget and with guides that have become friends.Posted on Tripadvisor David BVerified Immersion in the Basque Culture Review Summary: We booked an 8-day holiday to Basque country with my husband’s brother and his wife. The trip was filled with relaxation, learning, and adventure. We were excited to learn about the family history and the Basque history, and Ana and Inaki were instrumental in making this happen. Booking and Itinerary: Ana was very helpful and patient with the booking process. She suggested and provided an itinerary based on our interest in family origins and the Basque way of life. We made changes to the itinerary as we learned more about the area, and Ana updated each request. We stayed at their farmhouse most of the time, which was comfortable and provided a good start to the day with organic Basque-style breakfasts. A couple of nights were spent in hotels, including one in Bilbao with the Rick Steves travel group. Transportation: Inaki took care of transportation, driving us to our daily destinations in their van. He answered our questions and pointed out areas of interest along the way. We appreciated the flexibility to move at our own pace while keeping on schedule for planned tours. Local Experience: Ana and Inaki have an extensive network of resources that are independent and small businesses in the Basque region, which made us feel good about our travel. We loved learning about the Basque people and way of life each day. Inaki, who is very knowledgeable and has a good singing voice, made the drives enjoyable. Overall Impression: We had an unforgettable experience and found the vacation to be top-notch. We are unsure how we will be able to book another vacation like this one.Posted on Tripadvisor bill bVerified Basque towns with guides Ana & lnaka My brother and I planned this trip to visit where our Grandfather grew up . We felt as though we were exploring the beauty and culture of The Land of the Basques with friends. Loved staying on the farm, touring local artisans, and ending the day dining and sharing the sunset with Ana&Inaki❤️❤️Posted on Tripadvisor Paul RVerified Excellent Experience We had an amazing trip with Ana and Inaki. The property is beautiful and the room was perfect for our small group of 3. The personal touch that they provide was evident each step of the way.
